WorkLog OS — Privacy Policy

The short version

WorkLog OS stores all of your data — tasks, projects, clients, notes, time logs — locally on your own computer, in a database file it creates. Nothing is uploaded to any server operated by WorkLog OS or its developer, because no such server exists. The only outside services this app ever talks to are ones you explicitly connect: your own Google account (optional) and your own Anthropic API key (optional).

Data stored locally

Everything you enter into WorkLog OS — task titles and descriptions, time tracked, client and project details, notes, attachments, daily check-ins — is saved in a local database file on your device. This data never leaves your computer unless you explicitly use one of the two optional features below.

Google Sign-In (optional)

If you choose "Continue with Google," WorkLog OS requests the following through Google's standard OAuth sign-in screen:

• Your name and email address (openid, email, profile scopes) — used only to identify you within the app on this device. This is never sent anywhere else.
• Access to files this app creates in your Google Drive (drive.file scope) — used only if you click "Save to Google Drive." This scope is deliberately limited: WorkLog OS can only see and modify a single backup file it creates itself, and cannot see, list, or access any other file in your Drive.

Your Google sign-in credentials (password, etc.) are never seen or handled by WorkLog OS — sign-in happens entirely on Google's own page in your system browser.

Google Drive backup (optional)

If you use "Save to Google Drive," a single file (worklog-os-backup.db) containing a copy of your local database is uploaded to your Drive. Re-saving updates that same file. You can delete it anytime from Drive directly, or by disconnecting your Google account in WorkLog OS's Settings (which stops future backups but does not retroactively delete files already saved to Drive — you can remove those from Drive yourself).

AI Daily Summary (optional, requires your own API key)

If you add your own Anthropic API key in Settings and use the "AI Daily Summary" feature, that day's task titles and statuses are sent directly from your device to Anthropic's API (api.anthropic.com) to generate a short written summary. This only happens when you click "Generate Summary," and only for the tasks shown for that day. WorkLog OS does not operate any server in this path — the request goes straight from your computer to Anthropic using your own key, governed by Anthropic's own privacy policy for API usage.

What WorkLog OS does not do

• No analytics, tracking, or telemetry of any kind
• No advertising
• No account system beyond the optional Google sign-in described above
• No data is sold, shared, or transmitted to any third party other than the two you explicitly opt into (Google, Anthropic)

Data control & deletion

Because everything lives locally, you're always in full control. Uninstalling WorkLog OS or deleting its local data folder removes everything. Disconnecting Google in Settings revokes the app's access going forward (you can also revoke it directly from your Google Account permissions page at any time).

Children's privacy

WorkLog OS is a general-purpose productivity tool not directed at children and is not knowingly used to collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly. Material changes will be noted alongside the app's release notes.
